Markham Pain Clinic Chiropractic title

Chiropractic is a healing art which centres its attention on the spine. The spinal column consists of individual bones or vertebrae. Chiropractic understands that misalignments or improper movement between the vertebrae (this is known as subluxation) can adversely affect one's health. The doctor of chiropractic uses something known as the adjustment to eliminate the subluxations.

The effect of subluxations to the body are as follows:

Biomechanic Problems:

  Dr. John Fujimagari - subluxations

Dr. James Pascual - biomechanic problems

A vertebrae that is misaligned or stuck can cause problems to muscles, ligaments and tendons surrounding the spine. These structures must compensate for the subluxation and can cause inflammation or muscle spasms surrounding the spine. In addition, there may be a cascade effect with the vertebrae surrounding the subluxation. Arthritis may be accelerated due to the subluxation.
Nerve Impingement:

Between each pair of vertebrae exits a spinal nerve. Spinal nerves innervate every cell, tissue and organ in the body. These nerves act as a communication system between the brain and the various parts of the body such as muscles and organs. Subluxation causes the spinal nerves to be irritated and can cause aberrant changes in the communication system between the brain and the body. These aberrant changes result in health problems such as sciatic pain and any radiating nerve pain.

Dr. John Fujimagari - nerve impingement

The removal of these subluxations is done by using the adjustment. The adjustment is a non-invasive, drug-free and gentle method which restores position and motion to the vertebrae. The result is a biomechanically-sound spine without any nerve impingement.
