Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous system and the effects of these disorders on general health.

Doctors of chiropractic practice a drug-free, hands-on approach to health care that includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and are also trained to recommend therapeutic and rehabilitative exercises.

The most common therapeutic procedure performed by chiropractors is known as spinal manipulation or chiropractic adjustment. The purpose of the adjustment is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile (restricted in their movement). This hypomobile joint or subluxation can cause pain and problems not only in the joint but in the soft tissues surrounding it such as ligaments, tendons and muscles. Besides the adjustments, chiropractors can use other physiologic modalities such as acupuncture, ultrasound, TENS, or soft tissue work to address the problem.

In addition, for spinal disc problems that may have radiation down the leg (also known as sciatica), an alternative treatment using a spinal decompression table may be used to eliminate pain and decrease pressure in the affected spinal nerve and discs.

Chiropractic is effective for the following problems:

  • Low back pain
  • Headaches and Migraines- Mid-back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Whiplash and Other Motor Vehicle Accident Injuries
  • Jaw problems
  • Any other joint dysfunction

Please feel free to discuss your problem with one of the doctors. A complimentary consultation is available where the doctor can discuss your case and determine whether you are a candidate for treatment.
